About Superior Dough

What this is

Superior Dough is a baker's-percentage calculator and craft platform for home bakers and craft bakeries. Formula Lab handles the math — hydration, salt, levain, preferments, multi-stage builds. The workflow engine carries you through an active bake without making you watch a clock. Starter tracking remembers your culture's feeding schedule and tells you when it has peaked. Baker Chat answers the kind of questions a friend who has baked a thousand loaves can answer. The Bench is the community side: a place to share what came out of the oven and the formulas behind it.

The app is built for the baker who has outgrown spreadsheet templates and wants a tool that respects the craft.

Where it came from

Superior Dough started inside a baking habit that grew on the back of guest checks. The founder spent years in restaurant technology — most of them at Toast, working across a network of seventy-plus pizza shops on the systems that run the kitchen during service. The same operational instinct that survives a Friday night dinner rush lives in this app: tools have to work fast, work the first time, and stay out of the way of the work itself.

The Borough — a Philadelphia restaurant the founder helped run — was recognized by the Philadelphia Inquirer for the bread program. The same bread program is the seed of the formulas that ship in Formula Lab today.

The philosophy

Bread is four ingredients. Flour, water, salt, leaven. Everything else — Dutch ovens, bannetons, lame angles, bake-day humidity tables — exists to help you understand those four better. The app is built around that idea. Every screen is supposed to make you a more deliberate baker, not a more equipment-dependent one.

The voice is dry, the prose is plain, the chrome is minimal. Where the app uses color it uses crimson, cream, and navy — the wordmark colors. Avenir Next, four working weights. No emoji, no exclamation points, no manufactured excitement. The dough itself is enough.

Good dough, good day.

The team

Superior Dough is built by Coppermore LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Single-founder operation today, with design partners in the home-bakery and craft-bakery worlds whose feedback shapes every release. We will name them publicly when they ask us to.

How it is built

The web app is a Vanilla JavaScript progressive web app served from Vite and Vercel. The backend runs on Supabase Pro — Postgres, edge functions, file storage, and real-time subscriptions. iOS is a Capacitor wrapper around the same web bundle. Apple StoreKit handles iOS subscriptions; Stripe handles web subscriptions. Resend sends transactional email. Anthropic powers Baker Chat. ElevenLabs (planned) powers Baker Voice. The full credits list lives on the Acknowledgments page.
