Community Guidelines
What we celebrate, what we remove, and how to report content on The Bench.
The Bench is the public side of Superior Dough — a place to share bakes, formulas, and technique, and to talk with other bakers. These guidelines exist to keep it useful and welcoming. Post like you would talk to another baker at the back door of a bakery at three in the morning: honest, generous, and craft-first.
Where these apply
Everything you share with other bakers: bakes and their photos, formula posts, Baker's Notes on a post, reactions, Weekly Challenge entries, your profile and handle, starters you place on the Starter Map, and direct messages. Your private formulas, bake logs, and Baker Chat conversations stay yours until you choose to share them.
What we celebrate
- Bakes you are proud of — crumb shots, crust shots, mistakes you learned from.
- Formulas you have iterated on and want to share.
- Specific technique notes — timing, temperature, what you would do differently.
- Credit where it is due. Name the baker who taught you a trick, or the starter your culture came from.
- Helpful replies to questions, even when the answer is "try again."
- Weekly Challenge entries that are your own bake, made for the prompt.
What we remove
- Harassment or abuse. Personal attacks, targeted mockery, slurs — in public or in messages.
- Spam or off-topic promotion. Unrelated products, MLM, affiliate dumps, drop-shipping referrals, unsolicited sales messages.
- Copyrighted content without license. Don't post someone else's bake photo or formula without credit and permission. A published cookbook's written method is not yours to repost, even when you imported it for your own use.
- Adult content. This is a baking app.
- Child sexual abuse or exploitation material. Zero tolerance, no exceptions. Content of this kind is removed on sight, the account is permanently banned without appeal, and we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement as required by law.
- Hate speech. Content targeting people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or religion.
- Impersonation. Don't claim to be a baker, bakery, or brand you are not.
- Other people's private information. Addresses, phone numbers, or anything else someone has not chosen to share.
- Misinformation that could cause harm. Unsafe food-handling advice, for example.
Direct messages
Messages are one to one and text only. A message from a baker you don't follow arrives as a request: you can accept it or decline it, and declining is silent. The sender cannot keep writing until you accept. The same guidelines apply in messages as on the feed.
How to report
Every Bench post, Baker's Note, and profile has a Report option in its menu. In a message thread, you can report the sender from the thread menu. Tell us what is wrong and, if you want, give us context. Reports reach the moderation queue directly, and a person reviews each one. We review in order received.

What happens after a report
We act on every report within 24 hours of receiving it. Acting means the content is removed, or it is reviewed and kept with a reason recorded — not that every report ends in removal.
- We compare the content against these guidelines.
- Clear violations are removed.
- For borderline content, we may reach out to the baker who posted it.
- Repeat or severe violations result in the account being banned. A banned account can no longer post or comment on The Bench.
- We do not publicly discuss individual moderation decisions.
Mute and Block
You control who you hear from. Both options live in the menu on a baker's profile or post, and you can undo either one from Settings, under Muted and blocked.
- Mute quietly removes a baker's bakes and Baker's Notes from your feed. They are not told.
- Block works both ways: neither of you can see the other's bakes, Baker's Notes, or reactions, leave notes or reactions on the other's bakes, or message the other. They are not told.

If you believe content on the Bench infringes your copyright, email hello@superiordough.com with:
- A description of the copyrighted work.
- The URL or other location of the infringing content in the Service.
- Your contact information.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We remove infringing content in accordance with the DMCA and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Appeals
If content of yours is removed and you think we got it wrong, reply to the notification email with context. We will review and respond.
Changes
We will update these guidelines as The Bench grows. Material changes are announced in-app.
